About Us

Julie Canterbury, MA, LMHC

With over 15 years of clinical experience and a decade leading MCS Counseling Group, Julie Canterbury, LMHC, brings a depth of practical, on-the-ground leadership to her supervision work. Her approach is reflective, ethically grounded, and rooted in a simple belief: growth begins with self-awareness.

As a Washington State Approved Clinical Supervisor (RCW 18.225 / WAC 246-809), Julie offers:

  • Clinical Supervision for associates pursuing LMHC, LMFT, or LICSW licensure
  • Supervision-of-Supervisors for licensed clinicians developing their leadership and supervisory skills
  • Retreats for group practices or individuals working in private practice or other agency settings

Her supervision model draws on the Person of the Therapist Training (POTT) model and the Integrated Developmental Model (IDM), woven together with a Reflective Systemic lens. This blend helps therapists and supervisors integrate personal insight, emotional intelligence, and ethical decision-making into every part of their professional work.

What to Expect

Julie's supervision process is collaborative and supportive. Clinicians working with her can expect to:

  • Develop a clear supervision framework aligned with Washington State standards
  • Strengthen awareness of countertransference, transference, and parallel process
  • Build confidence in clinical documentation, ethical decision-making, and case conceptualization
  • Explore how personal experience, identity, and systemic context shape the therapeutic relationship
  • Grow as reflective, compassionate, and competent mental health professionals

Why Reflective Supervision

Supervision with Julie goes beyond case review. It's an intentional space for personal and professional transformation and one where curiosity replaces judgment, and insight becomes the foundation for skillful, ethical practice.

Whether you're an associate counselor completing hours toward licensure or a licensed clinician refining your supervisory leadership, Julie offers the structure, accountability, and space for genuine reflection that lasting growth requires.
